Wheel Restore

W.R. Phillips can now carry out wheel repairs and windscreen replacements in our workshop. We have invested in a market-leading laser-guided Diamond Cut Wheel Lathe to repair alloy rims.

As part of the repair process, we also have a wheel blast unit, a wheel straightener, spraying solutions, tyre changing and balancing equipment and a wheel alignment machine.

The latest technology for repairing diamond cut wheels

Our fully automated alloy rim repair machine provides the highest quality finish and the quickest turnaround time available. The alloy rim diamond cutting machine can make precise micromillimeter adjustments to damaged wheels while preserving their structural integrity.

A powerful key point for the machine is laser probing. The probing analyses the rims curves with a highly sensitive laser which provides the signals to curve cutting software. The probing reads and understands thousands of different wheel designs, wheel sizes and afterwards stores and transfers them into the wheel cutting part of the software.

What Are Diamond Cut Rims?

Diamond cut is when an alloy rim has been put on a lathe and part of or the entire painted surface of the rim is machined off to leave a shiny alloy finish. It is then lacquered over to prevent corrosion.

Machined Face Rim Repair

What about two-tone shade alloy rims? Machined faced alloy rims are where a part of the entire painted surface of the rim is machined off to leave a shiny alloy finish.

Wheel Blast Unit

The rim sandblasting process produces an even finish with easy sweeps across the wheel surface and, unlike traditional disc sanders, it allows both easy penetration of the blast media stream between the spokes and very precise localised etching if required. It also provides a fast and even light etching to remove only the chipped lacquer on virtually new wheels, whilst being capable of etching right back to bare metal if required.

Rim Straightening

Our rim straightening machine is used to repair the internal and external deformation, distortion, out-of-roundness and dents of the rim. The machine is equipped with a gantry structure and 3 hydraulic jacking devices. Without destroying the molecular structure and mechanical properties of the aluminium alloy rim, we can restore the wheel to as close to new as possible.
